Chloe Bailey is prepping for her sophomore studio album titled ‘Trouble in Paradise,’ and the inspiration comes from a lot of places –including her sister Halle and mentor Beyoncé.

In my recent interview with NYLON magazine, the 25-year-old artist shared her views of splitting the themes of her new record from the themes of her first album In Pieces, which mostly cover the extremity of sadness. Trouble in Paradise, in contrast, as a movie of Baxter and Alejandra is a cocktail of womanhood and jubilation, and it celebrates life.

Speaking about the general concept of the record, Chloë said that it is as if it is a story of a lover, a summer fling, and knowing the feeling won’t last long, yet still being more than happy to indulge anyway.

Accepting her path as an artist, Chloë discussed body transformations that she had to go through, pressures and the necessity to fight against the constant comparisons to her sister Halle and the hardships that Black women artists had to face before giving way to newcomers like Chloë.

Still emerging as an artist, Chloë Bailey is ready to share her new work of art titled Trouble in Paradise, pushing herself forward and learning how to be herself and follow her personal passions in the musical scene.

Chloë Bailey draws inspiration from Beyoncé and Whitney Houston

This young talented singer and actress learns from her role model and mentor Beyoncé who once made records in GRAMMY awards and also one of the excellent voice icons in the music industry Whitney Houston.

In the final episode, Chloë draws a similarity between Whitney’s career and the struggles she faces with her choices in her career. Just as Whitney experienced the torture soon after she transited from dance-pop, Chloë too has undergone a process of being tortured for likewise changing her music genre.

Even Beyoncé has not been free from criticisms, somewhat touched with her last release Cowboy Carter where she experimented with country music. However, reactions started coming Chloë’s way, and she appreciated how Beyoncé stuck to her core and asserted her music, proving that music is beyond race or genre of music.

Chloë Bailey specifically underlines that Whitney Houston becoming the idea of a woman who inspires millions while at one point she was criticized proves that music is about feelings, not the genre. She praised Beyoncé’s attempts at experimenting with country as a part of her musical production to prove that there are no bounds to music; she also pointed out that African Americans are very much connected with most forms of country music.

By acknowledging these inspirations, Chloë Bailey reinforces her desire for artistic independence in her upcoming body of work, thus, further establishing her direction within the context of pop music.

Chloë Bailey talks about solo journey, embracing change, and Beyoncé's mentorship

In an interview on Latto’s show 777 Radio on Apple Music 1 which was in March 2023, Chloë revealed how people have responded to her debut solo songs differently from how they used to with Chloe x Halle. She also expressed varying levels of confusion resulting from the critique, which tends to epitomise her new course as fake or manufactured.

Chloë partially blamed the issue on the fact that people saw her and her sister Halle since they were on YouTube as little girls with short baby hair, which created an expectation that they could not shed off easily. She further explained that singing and dancing make her most comfortable and very sexy, this she told everyone that her new look is real and a result of her passion.

Although the criticism might at times affect her, Chloë considered how the debates her songs generate are important to her. Despite voicing her frustrations at not being able to do as other stars in the Music industry, she gracefully accepts the limitations.

Regarding her mentor Beyoncé, who is 42 and a chart-topping powerhouse, Chloë shared advice Beyoncé gave to her and Halle: to sometimes wait for the world to come round since they are frequently pioneers with the work they are producing

Through self-actualization and societal changes, as displayed by Chloë Bailey through her solo projects and personal growth, everyone needs to be able to follow one’s passion and not lose sight of who they genuinely are while facing the responsibilities and restraints that come with striking out on one’s own.

Chloë Bailey also revealed that Beyoncé herself listened to her entire album In Pieces and even gave feedback on some of the songs before the album was released, and that is a feeling that she never wants to lose. She thanked Beyoncé via her SnapChat and said that it is a really big deal and that she has so much love for her.

Finally, as with Beyoncé’s help, Chloë is excited to see how fans react to her new record, Trouble in Paradise. She says that her art usually makes people crack up and the more they listen to it the more they develop an appreciation The sentiment she expressed was echoed by her in the surprise element she saw in her previous collaborative work with her sister, Halle. Chloë feels confident regarding the success of the album as the first reactions are not exactly positive among the public.

Yes, this is where Halle can be heard in ‘Trouble in Paradise’ tho Chloë didn’t reveal on which song. Halle stated that both of them have their own lifestyles now, and Halle has recently given birth to a son with DDG. Nonetheless, she realized that both girls had lots of work to attend to, and audiences would still pine for another collaboration such as the previous one.
