Tumbbad Mid Movie Review: Sohum Shah's film has its thrills but fails to keep you focused
Tumbbad Mid Movie Review: Tumbbad is about Vinayak Rao and his persistent greed for gold, overwhelmed with tragedy. It's his stoic emotions that leave you afraid and as you see Vinayak transform from a naive boy to an almost maniacal man, its often reflective of our own materialistic needs.
The writers of Tumbbad has a single goal in mind while penning this story - come up with a film like never before in Bollywood. From the first scene with the introduction of the Goddess that gave birth to the entire universe to the tale of her first born, the vindictive Hastar, you are instantly grippled with fear and at the edge of your seat

It's the young Vinayak and Sidashiv who impress you with their acting skills and Sohum Shah as the adult Vinayak makes an earnest effort that is part astonishing but part draggy as well. The 1813 Tummbad scenes are gory at its best and even more dangerous than Hastar is the old woman who is sure to wake you in your nightmares. However, 15 years later, the movie tends to lose its momentum just like the time passed.
The cinematography, production and decent CGI skills are what gives the edginess to an edgy film like Tumbbad.
For the second half, we hope there are more thrills but a sense of direction in the storyline as well.
